Catix
Hello! My name is Drew Gallagher.
I’m a student living just outside of Washington, D.C. (on the Red Line). Most of my day is occupied with studying, but I still find time to write stories and take photographs. Some of that ends up here.
I’m a member of Project 52, which means I’ll be writing at least one substantive post each week during 2010 (and hopefully beyond). I’ll be working on my writing style, finding my “voice,” and finally getting around to writing some fiction.
I’m an amateur design and piano player, subway and railway enthusiast, and cat owner. I like simplicity, organization, and making people’s lives easier. I love modern art, the Swiss style of design, and typography; mathematics, computer programming, and history; learning, grammar, and thinking.
I read a lot, and because of this I am beginning to enjoy writing very much. I like to cook. I’m a vegetarian. I prefer walking to driving. I spend time every week with quizbowl, news, and politics. I (much) prefer the radio to television. I correct errors on signs and flyers.
I don’t keep a sketchbook. I know a lot of designers do, but I’ve never really found the need. I do my work on looseleaf paper and translate that directly to code or designs.
I publish this site with WordPress, track your movements with Mint, and read feeds with Fever. My current computer runs Linux. My next one will be a Mac.
I look forward to seeing you around.
Let’s talk. If you want to get in touch, you can send email to hello at catix dot net.
